Debbie grew up with dogs, has owned her own pet dogs, looked after friends' and family's pooches and has been working as a professional dog walker since 2023. Mark is a proud 'dogfather', has looked after friend's dogs and started walking them professionally in 2025.
The Meet and Greet is an introductory meeting and/or walk in a public space, for you, Debbie and your dog(s). There's no charge and no obligation for you to take up any of our services. Or for us to take on looking after your pet(s). It's just a chance to get to know each other and see how we all get on together (or not). If both parties wish to go ahead, we will sort out and agree everything in writing.
We offer flexible agreements for the occasional ad hoc walk or dog sit. As well as short-term block bookings for holidays. NB: Regular bookings are guaranteed and take priority over ad hoc bookings. Our ad hoc motto is quite simple: "If we can, we will. If we can't, we can't" .
We specialise in solo walkies. 1-2-1 walks with individual dogs. We only walk two (max 3) dogs from the same household - as long as they are used to walking well together.
We don’t do group walks but can recommend other small businesses with transport and/or secure fields.
We collect your dog from home and walk them in your local area, depending on what they're used to. And what they and you are happy with. All routes are public and include pavements, green spaces, footpaths, fields and the Greenway.
We are dog walkers, not trainers. Nor magicians - although we have learned lots of tricks and techniques over the years! Seriously, we have undertaken training with our own pets and can recommend trainers to you. We are also willing to try and reinforce positive training techniques you are teaching your dog.
Dogs in our care are all walked on a lead. This can include an extending/training lead if that's what they're used to. They will only be allowed off leash where:
Clients can choose to:
We are both DBS checked, so you can trust us with your keys and your property. We carry keys with us on the day we walk your dog. Afterwards, they are locked in a key safe inside our home. No address is listed on the spare key fob. We are insured for loss or theft.
After walkies or a drop-in, we will:
We invoice at the end of the month for the total number of services delivered. Payment is due on receipt of invoice by bank transfer.
In line with general dog business standards, we do not charge for cancellations that are received by close of business at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled booking. If the cancellation is received outside of this, we reserve the right to charge 50-100% of the fee.
We don’t offer day care or home dog boarding. For starters, you need to be inspected and licensed to offer it. We looked into it last year but our own dog, Arlo, isn't always happy with other dogs coming into his home, so we didn't pursue it. If you’re looking for day care, dog boarding and overnight home stays, we know other local businesses that cater for that.
Canine Couple only do dogs. But we can recommend other pet professionals who care locally for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chickens, horses, tortoises, fish etc
